God Made His Church to be a Movement

The book of Acts begins with a promise: “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you,” Jesus told his disciples, “and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Jesus made good on his promise. The rest of the book tells how, by the power of God’s Spirit, the church became a movement of disciple-making from Jerusalem to the rest of the Roman Empire.

The church is still God’s Plan A for reaching the world, and there is no Plan B. Yet many of us in the church are wrestling with an identity crisis in its modern local expression. What was the church like in the New Testament? How is it supposed to function now? As these questions go unanswered, substitutions set in and we lose sight of the original vision of the church as a forward and rapidly-advancing movement:

  • FORWARD - Moving strategically to the ends of the earth
  • RAPID - Moving urgently with the message of Christ
  • ADVANCING - Moving generationally as we multiply disciples

In Movement Church, we will take you on a journey through 21 stories from the book of Acts to refresh and reclaim that vision and apply it to our own day and age.

Now, get ready to learn what it means to be a Church that goes like a Movement!
